On 2 July 1976, Saigon was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City, name of Vietnamese communist revolutionary leader who was prime minister (1945-1955) and president (1945-1969) of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam).

When arriving in My Tho, take a boat for a cruise on the Mekong River and its multiple canals to Ben Tre.
